The whole reappointment-when-you-move-to-another-congo thing just verified the fact that Holy Spirit did NOT play a role in the process. I've known brothers who have received favorable recommendations from their previous halls sit for years at their new ones. Again, it all boils down to how much you pucker those lips to kiss those boots.

reappoinments to elder or MS after a move...why?
by chester inthis may have already been discussed in this or other forums and i may have missed it.. in another thread chipster mentioned something about coming up for reappointment after a move.
especially if i was coming up for reappointent after a move.
it has always been a puzzle to me why a brother should have to be reappointed to his position after he moves to another congregation.. i have never heard anyone complain about it.

back to basics
by cnn77 inas soeone raised in the truth my whole life i am struggling with a basic doctrinal issue.
the issue has to do with universal sovreignty and the ransom sacrifice.
let me try to illustrate by way of analogy:.

Here's your chance to complement a poster whose posts make you think, make you mad, make you laugh, make you cry. I usually find something that I dig in EVERYBODY'S post around these parts. But I'll single out some peeps in particular. This is an appreciation post.
JT, Metatron, AlanF & Maximus: Bringing you the inside scoop on things.
LDH: I've been following her posts since the witnet days. I'd go so far as to say that a lot of her posts are what inspired me to start posting here.
Kent & Comf: Straight-forward cats, but are man enough to apologize whenever they go to far. Appreciate that.
Bigboi: My dawg........yeah.....
Simon: Balanced, stabilizing force here.
joelbear & jschewn: Interesting perspectives on things.
Mulan, VeniceIT, TeeJay: Know how to have a good laugh.
Fred Hall: For making me NOT regret wanting to leave the ORG.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few peeps. But everyone I've listed off the top of my head (save for FredHall) are Must-See-TV-type posters for me. Dig a poster. Post who and what you dig about their posts.........

Jungle Fever in the BORG
by Black Man inpost title - jungle fever in the borg or inter-racial relationship dynamics in the borg.. back in the the day inter-racial relationships were frowned on, especially if you wanted to advance spiritually (climb the corporate ladder).
i remember at bethel a few of the brothers in service department used to always tell brothers that it would be beneficial to marry in their own race if they wanted to be used in the circuit work.
the premise was that the society is not biased but rather the world is and to avoid conflict, they only prefer to use couples of the same race.

Mulan said: Does this only apply to blacks and whites interracial marriages? We had a CO, in 1974, who was Chinese, married to a white gal. They had been in the work awhile when we had them too. Maybe that mix didn't matter the GB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was mainly applicable to Blacks and Whites. They were a little more open-minded when it came to oriental mixed marriages.Bwoga said: Some of the most prejudiced people I ever met were JW's....elders included...

When did you think Armageddon would come?
by comment ini was just thinking about this.
having been raised "in the truth" post-1975, i didn't grow up with any specific year in mind.
yes, there was the notion of "this generation will by no means pass away," but by the time i was old enough to think about that concept, the people who were born in 1914 (to stretch it out as far as possible, as the society ultimately did) were still only in their 60's.

I thought Armageddon would be here by the turn of the century. Millenium came and went and............nothing. The flip-flop on the generation issue 5 years before kinda took the wind outta my sails well before that.

Climbing the Corporate Ladder - Why They Do It
by Black Man inthat the wts is nothing more than a business is painfully obvious in the way many brothers seek 'positions'.
i was always highly doubtful of the 'appointed by holy spirit' bs that we were always fed.
appointments often came down to who kissed up the most to the decision-makers.

Simon said: The dangerous thing is that the people who seek out the power and position do it because they could not achieve it elsewhere. Most companies would not put them in charge of 100 people yet they get this and to wear a suit in the society. It goes to their head. Nobody's who think they are somebody's.
----------------------------------------------------------------------Simon, that is SO TRUE. Brothers who couldn't cut it out in the real world live their dreams through being in charge of congregations and etc. It's something the society spouts of proproganda about all of us being equal in the eyes of God, yet when you get down to it, the ORG is a status-based organization. Complete status-quo mentality.

And here's another one: In this particular instance which was the more dominant quality, Jehovah's justice or his love?

JoelBear said: Is the loyalty of fleshly creatures more valuable than that of spirit creatures?
That is something that has vexed me for a long time. It seems as if the LOYALTY of FLESHLY creatures coupled with the FREE-WILL of SPIRIT creatures carries the most weight.

Joelbear: You read my mind, man. To make it fair everyone should have had the opportunity to choose to eat from the tree or not and based on that reap the consequences. It just gives me a headache when I think about it. I have sometimes felt that God just didn't take care of family business in heaven and let those issues spill over into mankind's sphere. I reason that there's gotta be more to this, but I don't know.
I remember one poster (I think on here) talked about how there must have been a rebellious attitude by some in heaven for quite some time. This was indicated by God pronouncing his creative works good at the beginning of creating the physical universe. If badness wasn't introduced yet, why would it be necessary for God to pronouncing his physical creations as good? I don't know....just my $0.02.
